APDecember 12, 2011: English actor Christian Bale speaks to journalists during an
interview on the red carpet as he arrives for an event of
the Zhang Yimou-directed new movie "The Flowers of War" in Beijing, China.
BEIJING "Batman" star Christian Bale, in the midst of promoting a
film he made in China that some critics have called propaganda, was
stopped trying to visit a blind activist living under house arrest --
with a CNN crew in tow.CNN posted footage of a scuffle between
Bale and the activist's guards on its website Friday. The run-in and publicity
is likely to cause discomfort in China's government-backed film industry, which hopes
Bale's movie "The Flowers of War" will be a creative success at
home and abroad. It also raises questions about whether it was prudent
to bring the star to see an activist guarded by thugs who

present for all Americans" and said it strikes a blow against expensive
fluorescents that he said are not as reliable as the old-style incandescents

opposed the 2007 law and has worked to overturn it ever since.Jim
Presswood, federal energy policy director for the Natural Resources Defense Council, an
environmental group, called the GOP-backed delay dim-witted."It's just a completely ridiculous move
by Congress," Presswood said. "It undermines the ability of the Energy Department
to enforce standards that are going to give consumers tremendous savings as
well as reduce pollution."

an independent, said she supported Republican John McCain in 2008 and has
not been impressed with Obama's economic policies. She intends to support Romney
if he wins the Republican nomination."(Obama) spent the first part of his
presidency blaming Bush for everything, not that he was innocent, and now
his way of solving anything is by spending more money," she said.Despite
the soft level of support, many are uncertain whether a Republican president
would be a better choice. Asked whom they would support next November,
47 percent of adults favored Obama compared with 46 percent for Romney,
a former Massachusetts governor. Against Gingrich, the president holds a solid advantage,
receiving 51 percent compared with 42 percent for the former leader of
the House. The potential matchups paint a better picture for the president am
