<p style="font-size:xx-small;"> April 16, 2013: Office workers stand outside of their buildings following
an earthquake tremor in Karachi. An magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Iran
on Tuesday with tremors felt across Pakistan among other regions, media
reported.ReutersAt least 40 are dead after a major earthquake struck Tuesday
near the Iran-Pakistan border, Iranian state-run Press TV says.An Iranian
official told Reuters that hundreds more are feared dead. State-run Pakistan
Television, meanwhile, said at least six people were killed on its side
of the border and at least 47 others were injured. Up to
1,000 mud homes were damaged, it added. The U.S. Geological Survey put the
preliminary magnitude of the earthquake at 7.8 and at a depth of
nine miles, and Iran's seismological center said it was centered near Saravan,
a sparsely populated area about 26 miles from the Pakistani border. Iranian
state TV said power and communications systems were down in the southeastern
province of Sistan and Baluchistan.Iran's Red Crescent said it was facing
a "complicated emergency situation," with villages scattered over desolate
hills and valleys. A resident in the quake zone, Manouchehr Karimi, told
The Associated Press by phone that "the quake period was long" and
occurred "when many people were at home to take a midday nap."The
quake struck less than a week after a magnitude-6.1 quake hit near
Bushehr, on Iran's Persian Gulf coast, killing at least 37 people and
raising calls for gre

off her shorts and partially removed her bra, exposing her breasts, the
newspaper reported. Markings were found on her chest, legs, back and near
her genitalia."They wrote `Blank Was Here,' on her leg," said family attorney
Robert Allard, not using the actual name because the suspect is a
juvenile. "They marked her."Lisa Pott, the stepmother of Audrie, said the
three suspects were removed from the football team after her suicide but
weren't expelled from school, despite their pleas to the principal. She said
Audrie had been dealing with bullying problems at school prior to the
assault, and the family had asked the principal for help last spring.Jane
Marashian, a spokeswoman for the school district, said officials had no
comment in response to that claim.Attorney Eric Geffon, who represents one
of the three suspects, told The Associated Press that attorneys representing
all three will have a statement Tuesday after a hearing in Juvenile
Court.Geffon said the boys were cited last fall but no formal charges
were filed against them until Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies arrested
two boys at Saratoga High School and a third, a former Saratoga
High student, at Christopher High in Gilroy where he currently was a
student. They have been held in the county juvenile detention center since
Thursday.Audrie Pott's father, mother and stepmother said they were outraged
by what they see as a refusal to take responsibility by the
teens.
