The idea of eating fish sold out of a trailer in heat happy Austin, TX does not sound ideal, but it's the best fish I've eaten since leaving Coastal NC. So far I've only had the blackened/grilled Snapper and the blackened MahiMahi, but I'm sure I will work my way though the menu shortly. I didn't know Austin had a coast, but that's the only thing that explains how fresh the fish tastes. I like how simple the menu is; you just pick your protein out of like 10 choices, choose fried, grilled, blackened, and decide whether you want it as a salad, po boy, or tacos. I have only had the salad so far, but my friend got a fried shrimp po boy he raved about, and it looked amazing.
The first thing you notice when you get your order is how large the portion of fish is. They told me it is a full 8oz, but I don't believe them. It looked more like 12 to me! The prices are a little scary at first glance. It usually ends of costing me around $16, but the portion of fish is truly twice what you get at most restaurants. Plus, they have cheaper fish and other proteins if you don't want to pay that much. I think I saw a fish and ribeye for $9, but they might have even cheaper options. The only negative I can say about the place is the portion size made me feel cheated by every other seafood restaurant I've been.
I've also tried the cilantro fries. French fry preference is a very individual thing, but for me they are easily an Austin top 5. They have a really nice crunch and practically melt in your mouth after. Just like the fish, you get a ridiculously huge portion of fries.
