Das Debian Projekt (bzw. das "Debian-legal"-Team) hat sämtliche
CC-Lizenzen evaluiert und ist zu dem Ergebnis kommen, daß sie alle unfrei im
Sinne der Debian Free Software Guidelines
<http://www.debian.org/social_contract.html> sind. Dies schließt somit
auch die GPL-artigen ShareAlike-Lizenz und die BSD-artige
Attribution-Lizenz ein. Das Fazit der Autoren lautet:

   "debian-legal contributors recommend that authors who wish to create
   works compatible with the Debian Free Software Guidelines should not
   use any of the licenses in the Creative Commons license suite.

   Authors who use or are planning to use a Creative Commons license
   that includes the NonCommercial or NoDerivs license elements should
   understand that these restrictions are incompatible with Free
   Software.

   Authors who use or are planning to use the Attribution 2.0 license
   should consider a similar Free Software license such as a BSD- or
   MIT-style license.

   Authors who use or are planning to use the Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0
   license should consider a similar Free Software license such as the
   General Public License [GPL]_."

Der Originaltext und detaillierte Begründungen der Nichtfreiheit der
CC-Lizenzen finden sich unter

Autoren empfehlen dem Creative Commons-Projekt insgesamt 6 Änderungen an
der Attribution- und der Attribution-ShareAlike-Lizenz, damit diese frei
im Sinne der Debian Free Software Guidelines (DFSG) werden.

Da die Open Source Definition der Open Source Initiative
<http://www.opensource.org> von den DFSG abgeleitet ist, dürfte gleiches
auch für Open Source-Werke gelten.  In der Konsequenz heißt dies z.B.,
daß Software-Dokumentation unter den derzeitigen Creative
Commons-Lizenzen nicht Bestandteil freier bzw. quelloffener
Betriebssysteme sein kann.
