 transmediale.03: Die Nominierungen im Wettbewerb

 Drei international besetzte Jurys haben f=FCr den Medienkunst-Wettbewerb de=
r
transmediale.03 die Nominierungen ausgesprochen. Von etwa 900 Einsendungen
wurden f=FCnf Projekte in den Kategorien Image und Software nominiert. Die
Jury in der Kategorie Interaction sprach drei lobende Erw=E4hnungen aus. Die
nominierten und die lobend erw=E4hnten Arbeiten werden im Festivalprogramm
der transmediale vom 1. bis 5. Februar 2003 im Haus der Kulturen der Welt
zu sehen sein. Die beiden Preistr=E4ger erhalten je 5.000 Euro, sie werden a=

4. Februar bekannt gegeben.

 Image (nominiert f=FCr den Image Award):
 Die live improvisierte Videoperformance 'Live in Bruxelles' ist eine
Gemeinschaftsarbeit der 242.pilots. Dahinter stecken HC Gilje (Norwegen),
Lukasz Lysakowski (Polen) und Kurt Ralske (USA), w=E4hrend Justin Bennett
(UK/NL) f=FCr die Soundscapes verantwortlich zeichnet. 'EuroVision' hei=DFt =
das
interaktive Video der Australierin Linda Wallace. 'Places without Engine'
sind eigenwillige Computeranimationen der aus Spanien stammenden K=FCnstler
Juan F. Romero und Maria Ca=F1as.

 Software (nominiert f=FCr den Software Award):
 'Minitasking', eine Software, die das Peer-to-Peer Netzwerk Gnutella
visualisiert, ist eine Arbeit von Schoenerwissen alias Anne Pascuel und
Marcus Hauer aus Berlin (www.minitasking.com). Die Animationssoftware
'Puppet Tool' stellt Fr=E9d=E9ric Durieu, Mitglied der Pariser
Netzk=FCnstlerwerkstatt LeCielEstBleu.com, online zur Verf=FCgung
(www.lecielestbleu.com/puppettool).

 Interaction (lobend erw=E4hnt):
 Mit 'Circulez y'a rien =E0 voir' hat die franz=F6sische Medienk=FCnstlerin
C=E9cile Babiole eine interaktive Sound- und Bildinstallation geschaffen.
'Spolus' hei=DFt die Internet-Videoinstallation im =F6ffentlichen Raum des
Tschechen Martin Kermes (www.synopsis.cz/spolus.php). 'Deterritoriale
Schlingen' ist eine interaktive Soundinstallation f=FCr elf Radiosender von
Thom Kubli und Sven Mann aus K=F6ln.

 transmediale.03: Nominations for the Awards


 Three international juries announced the nominations for the
transmediale.03 media art awards. Shortlisted were five projects in the
categories Image and Software out of approximately 900 entries. The jury in
the category Interaction honourably mentioned three projects. Both, the
nominated and the honourably mentioned works will be shown during the
festival, which runs from February 1st to 5th, 2003. The winners of the
awards - each worth 5.000 Euro - will be announced at the Prize Ceremony on
=46ebruary 4th.

 Image (nominated for Image Award):
 The video performance "Live in Bruxelles" is a live-improvisation by
242.pilots aka HC Gilje (Norway), Lukasz Lysakowski (Poland) and Kurt
Ralske (US), supported by the soundscapes of Justin Bennett (UK/NL).
"Places without Engine" are highly original computer animations by the
Spanish artists Juan F. Romero and Maria Ca=F1as, both currently living in
Berlin. The third nomination in the Image category, "EuroVision", is an
interactive video documentary by Australian artist Linda Wallace.

 Software (nominated for Software Award):
 "Minitasking", a software visualising the peer-to-peer network Gnutella,
was designed by Schoenerwissen aka Berlin-based Anne Pascuel and Marcus
Hauer (www.minitasking.com). The animation software "Puppet Tool" was
customised online by Fr=E9d=E9ric Durieu, member of Parisian netart-factory
LeCielEstBleu.com (www.lecielestbleu.com/puppettool).

 Interaction (honourably mentioned):
 With "Circulez y'a rien =E0 voir", French media artist C=E9cile Babiole
created an interactive sound and image installation in public space. The
internet-video-installation "Spolus" (www.synapse.cz/spolus.php) by Czech
artist Martin Kermes creates a communication between Internet users and
tram passengers in the city. "Deterritoriale Schlingen" by Cologne-based
Thom Kubli and Sven Mann is an interactive sound installation for eleven
radio transmitters.
