Yes. Here is a question regarding the other side:
Given the strict Islamic injunction against representation of the human
form, how is it that Osama bin Laden had no compunction against having
videos of himself made lecturing, invoking his allegedly pious political
position? His face has become a brand name as recognizable as the
trademark of Coca Cola (see today's Sueddeutsche Zeitung for the use of
his face in, I believe it was recruitment material). That might be
attributed to his followers, who might conceivably be ignorant of the
religious prohibition--but for the videos which were shown
on TV (the ones that seem to have been made for TV, and were
indeed delivered to Pakistani TV), bin Laden himself spoke directly into th=
e
camera.
