Lieber sicher als frei?


In Zeiten eines verstärkten Sicherheitsbedürfnisses wird die Privatsphäre
immer mehr in den Hintergrund gedrängt. Die Eintragung biometrischer Daten in
Reisepässe, Section Control Systeme und andere Überwachungstechnologien
machen in den Augen der Überwacher aus jeder Privatperson einen
potentiellen Täter.

Die Künstlergruppe MACHFELD konstruierte Spionagegeräte, die sie Freiwilligen
übergab. Während diese glaubten, nach Wireless Networks zu scannen, wurden in
Wirklichkeit ihre Wege aufgezeichnet. Die Bewegungsprofile können - verknüpft
mit tagesaktuellen Ereignissen - interpretiert werden. Die Ausstellung
)( PIONEER stellt solche Interpretationen aus, sie gleicht also einer
gefälschten Rasterfahndung.

)( PIONEER ist eine Ausstellung zur Förderung der Wachsamkeit im Alltag.

Trading freedom for security

Privacy is restrained in times of increasing security.
Biometric data in passports, Section Control Systems and other
surveillance techniques have one point in common: the private person
in treated as a suspect, a potential culprit.

The artist group MACHFELD created a pleasing spying device, handed
out to voluntary participants. While they thought they were scanning
for wireless networks, their tracks were recorded. We acquired their
patterns of movement, ready to be interpreted. The )( PIONEER
Exhibition connects those tracks to actual events. We worked out
profiles of the suspects, linking them to actual crime and faked
pieces of evidence.

Sharpening the perception of the public.
