The Marching Plague

In this lecture/performance, CAE will recreate the field research on germ
behavior conducted by the US military in the 1950s and 1960s. As this
occurs, CAE will discuss germ warfare as a useless technology that is
dysfunctional even within the logic of the military, and give a timeline of
the results of the field tests (both accidental andintentional) done from
World War II to the present.

Critical Art Ensemble (CAE), a collective of 5 artists working since 1987,
produces cultural products ranging from books to Web projects to
performances that investigate moments in art, technology, activism, and
critical theory.

In dieser lecture/performance rekonstruiert das CAE Feldversuche des
US-Militär aus den 50er und 60er zum Verhalten von Bakterien. Dabei wird das
CAE zeigen, dass die biologische Kriegsführung selbst innerhalb der
militärischen Logik eine dysfunktionale Technologie ist und die (zufälligen
und absichtlichen) Ergebnisse der Tests vom Zweiten Weltkrieg bis heute
dokumentieren.

Das Critical Art Ensemble (CAE) existiert seit 1987 als Kollektiv von fünf
Künstlern. In den verschiedensten kulturellen Artefakten, unter anderem in
Büchern, Web Projekten und Performances werden Aspekte von Kunst,
Technologie, Aktivismus und Theorie untersucht.
