Internationales Symposium "GIST – Gender Perspectives Increasing 
Diversity for Information Society Technology“, 24. - 26. Juni 2004 in 
Bremen

Dieses Symposium wird Ausgangspunkt sein für ein internationales 
Netzwerk das die Geschlechterfrage zum Ausgangspunkt nimmt mit dem Ziel 
größerer Vielfalt in der Technologieentwicklung. Weiterhin wird die 
Bildung eines europäischen Konsortiums angestrebt, um die Nachhaltigkeit 
des Symposiums zu gewährleisten. In den Beiträgen werden Ergebnisse aus 
Forschung und Entwicklung von Technologien für die 
Informationsgesellschaft (IST) mit denen der Gender-Forschung verbunden.

GIST wurde von Prof. Dr. Heidi Schelhowe, Hochschullehrerin in der 
Informatik an der Universität Bremen initiiert, und in Kooperation mit 
der Hochschule für Künste Bremen, dem TZI (Technologiezentrum Informatik 
an der Universität Bremen) und dem ZfS (Zentrum für feministische 
Studien an der Universität Bremen) sowie LeaNet durchgeführt.

International symposium “GIST - Gender Perspectives Increasing Diversity 
for Information Society Technology” June 24-26, 2004 Bremen, Germany.

Early registration with a reduced registration fee will be possible 
until May 14 only. Further information as well as a registration form

Free entry is possible for students willing to volunteer for some 
support tasks during the symposium.
The focus of the symposium is to concentrate results from Information 
Society Technology (IST) research and application and various fields of 
gender research in order to actively influence IST research and 
development in a sustainable way. Going beyond bringing more women into 
IT, the symposium's objective is to look at the field of technology and 
its development from a gender perspective.
