21st-24th and october 28th-31st in weimar

abstract:
worldwide telecommunication is permeating almost all facets of our daily
life. the telecommunications-multi sony ericsson
revised its forecast of this year sold mobile-phones worldwide from 550
mill to 600 mill devices. media let spatial borders
between private and public become transient. one's mobile turns the public
space of the subway into a super-private realm
when the webcam makes the sleeping-room somewhat public. with the ongoing
transition of working routines in communicative
situations the office and the factory are leaving their former abode. the
production mode is entering the common sphere of
everyday communication. although communicative interconnectedness is
constantly expanding the user tend to become more
isolated. the mobile-phone and its direct addressability introduce a
social practise that stresses personal then impersonal
relationships. we receive a situation where on one hand the technical
capability of media-production reached the level of
consumer, but is used only in a private context. on the other side the
active area of the general media public is left to
few corporations monopolising the global mediascape and are effectively
forming public conception.
How do social and artistic movements face such situation, what does it
mean for political and artistic autonomy?

through their very own media-practise, and
introduce their current projects, as well as create exchange with local
initiatives ...

Weltweit durchdringt Telekommunikations-Technologie nahezu alle Bereiche
unseres Alltags. Der Konzern-Riese Sony Ericsson korrigierte seine
diesjaehrige Prognose fuer die weltweiten Handyverkaufszahlen von 550 Mio.
auf
600 Mio. Gerte. Medien lassen die raeumliche Schwelle zwischen
oeffentlichen und privaten Spaehren fliessend werden. Unser Handy
verwandelt den oeffentlichen Raum der S-Bahn umgehend in eine intime
Privatspaehre, das Internet stellt unser Schlafzimmer zur Schau. Durch
die Verlagerung der Arbeitsroutinen in kommunikative Situationen verlaesst
das Buero das Buero und die Fabrik die Fabrikhalle.
Die Arbeit taucht ein in die Allgemeinspaehre unserer alltgaelichen
Kommunikation. Gleichzeitig ist zu beobachten, dass bei wachsender
kommunikativer Vernetzung der Individuen diese in ihrer
Handy-Existenz immer einsamer werden, da die Art der Vernetzung in ihrer
direkten Adressierbarkeit der Teilnehmer dazu
tendiert, Beziehungen untereinander zunehmend zu privatisieren. Wir erleben
eine Entwicklung, wo auf der einen Seite die
technischen Voraussetzungen zur Medien-Produktion die Konsumenten-Ebene
erreicht hat, dort aber nur im privaten Rahmen
genutzt wird. Auf der anderen Seite wird das Feld der medialen
Oeffentlichkeit einzelnen Unternehmen berlassen, die
Monopol-Stellungen in einer globalen Medienlandschaft einnehmen und
maszgeblich die oeffentliche Wahrnehmung praegen.
Wie stellen sich kuenstlerische und soziale Stroemungen dieser Situation,
was bedeutet das fuer knstlerische und politische Autonomie?

radical connector(s) 01 wird einen Ueberblick ber soziale und
kuenstlerische Bewegungen der letzen 30 Jahre geben, die herausstechen durch
die Entwicklung eigener Medienpraxen und
Theorie-Produktion. Dabei sollen auch ihre aktuellen Projekte vorgestellt
und verstrkt Austausch mit lokalen Initiativen Thringens
gesucht werden.
