Hallo Rohrpost,

die erste, sehr erfolgreiche Ausstellung des HMKV im Dortmunder U neigt sich schon wieder dem Ende zu. Agents & Provocateurs in der U3 läuft bis einschließlich Sonntag, den 18. Juli 2010.

Weiterhin laufen die Ausstellungen Building Memory (HMKV im Dortmunder U, 2. Etage, bis 15. August) sowie Arctic Perspective (HMKV in der PHOENIX Halle Dortmund, bis 10. Oktober). Ausführliche Informationen finden Sie auf unserer Website www.hmkv.de.

Am 17. und 18. Juli findet außerdem der zweitägige Workshop für Jugendliche "Wir programmieren eine LED-Lampe" mit dem Berliner Medienkünstler Karl-Heinz Jeron statt  (für max. 12 Teilnehmer ab 12 Jahren). Ziel des Workshops ist es, eine in allen Farben des Regenbogens leuchtende steuerbare LED-Lampe zu bauen. Noch sind einige wenige Plätze frei! HMKV im Dortmunder U (3. Etage), 14. Mai – 18. Juli 2010

Die Ausstellung zeigt subversive künstlerische Strategien, die während des Sozialismus in osteuropäischen Ländern entwickelt wurden. Die Schau stellt die Frage, welches kritische Potential diese künstlerischen Strategien tatsächlich gehabt haben, und welche Bedeutung ihnen in anderen politischen Kontexten bzw. heute – unter veränderten politischen Bedingungen – zukommt. Agents & Provocateurs — eine Ausstellung mit über 30 internationalen Künstlern — untersucht bestimmte Formen der Konfrontation: Engagement und Provokation, die als künstlerische Ausdrucksmittel des anders Denkens verstanden werden.

HMKV's very successful first exhibition at the Dortmunder U is soon coming to an end. There's still time to use the opportunity ...! Agents & Provocateurs (U3) continues through Sunday, July 18, 2010.

Furthermore, HMKV's exhibitions Building Memory (HMKV at the Dortmunder U, 2nd floor, until August 15) as well as Arctic Perspective (HMKV at the PHOENIX Halle Dortmund, until October 10) continue to be on view. Comprehensive information can be found at www.hmkv.de.

Beyond that, there's a two-day youth workshop coming up for which you can still register: "We are programming an LED light" with the Berlin-based media artist Karl-Heinz Jeron (max. 12 participants from 12 years). During the workshop the participants will learn how to build an LED light that glows in all the colors of the rainbow .... There are a few places left! Please RSVP. HMKV at the Dortmunder U (3rd floor), May 14 – July 18, 2010

The research-based art project Agents & Provocateurs surveys certain forms of confrontation: agency and provocation, both understood as dissenting artistic attitudes. Starting out from the counter-cultural scenes of state-socialist East Central Europe, the project asks what sort of critical potential the oppositional artistic positions of the time really had. Was "oppositional" a (self-)chosen stance, or did the narrow confines of a repressive regime constitute dissident thinkers so? Did artists engage with various aspects of social reality under an autocratic political rule, or were they rather concerned over the infringements of their artistic and intellectual freedom?
