Liebe Freunde der ISEA2010 RUHR,

Wir zählen die Tage bis zur ersten Eröffnung der ISEA2010 RUHR.
TRUST.VERTRAUEN eröffnet am kommenden Freitag, 30. Juli 2010, 19 Uhr im
Dortmunder U - Zentrum für Kunst und Kreativität. 
Sie sind alle sehr herzlich zur Eröffnung 
eingeladen.

Eine Ausstellung im Dortmunder U (organisiert vom Hartware
MedienkunstVerein)
Eröffnung: Fr 30 Juli 2010, 19 Uhr, mit der Performance "Diffusion /
Acoustics" by Thomas Ankersmit (nl) und Antoine Chessex (ch).

Mit Arbeiten von: Seiko Mikami (jp), Carsten Nicolai (de), knowbotic
research (ch/at/de), Milica Tomic (rs), Ariel Guzik (mx), Joan Leandre
(es), Joyce Hinterding (au), Julien Maire (de/fr), Naeem Mohaiemen (bd),
HC Gilje (no), Sophie Bélair Clément (qc/ca), Konrad Becker (at), Verena
Friedrich (de), Antoine Schmitt (fr).

Vertrauen ist ein wichtiger Faktor in allen menschlichen Beziehungen und
es ist die Grundlage zwischenmenschlicher Kommunikation. Wir vertrauen der
Gültigkeit von Regeln, Codes und Konventionen und wir setzen Zutrauen in
andere. Dasselbe gilt für Medien und technische Systeme, denen wir unsere
Wünsche und Sehnsüchte anvertrauen. Man mag zwar nagende Zweifel und
Verdächtigungen gegen sie hegen, dennoch fühlen wir einen Drang danach,
den Apparaten und ihren Simulakren Glauben zu schenken, wenn wir sie damit
betrauen, uns eine gute Geschichte zu erzählen, die Wahrheit zu
übermitteln und unser Leben besser, gesund und heil zu machen.

Die Gruppenausstellung TRUST. VERTRAUEN folgt den ästhetischen
Fluchtlinien dieses Vertrauens, indem sie dessen Status hinterfragt, die
Überzeugungen des Publikums herausfordert und es ermutigt, in einen
reflektierten Dialog mit Maschinen und Medien zu treten. Die präsentierten
Werke verweisen sowohl auf die Begierden als auch auf die ethischen und
emotionalen Dilemmata, die mit diesem Vertrauen einhergehen.

Die Künstlerinnen und Künstler Seiko Mikami, Ariel Guzik, Joyce
Hinterding, Sophie Bélair Clément, Konrad Becker, HC Gilje, Verena
Friedrich and Julien Maire werden zur Eröffnung anwesend sein.

Zur Ausstellung erscheint am 19. August 2010 ein Katalog im Kehrer Verlag.

Trust is a major factor in all human relations and it is the basis of
communication. We trust the validity of rules, codes and conventions, and
we have confidence in others. The same goes for media and technical
systems as we entrust them with our wishes and longings. One may hold a
nagging doubt and suspicion about them, yet we feel an urge to keep faith
with the apparatuses and their simulacra when we consign them to tell us a
good story, to convey the truth, and to make our lives better, healthy,
and wholesome.

The group exhibition TRUST explores the aesthetics of this confidence by
questioning its status, attempting to challenge the audience's convictions
and by encouraging a reflected dialogue with machines and media. The works
in the show point to the desires as well as the ethical and emotional
dilemmas that arise from this attitude of trust.

Seiko Mikami, Ariel Guzik, Joyce Hinterding, Sophie Bélair Clément, Konrad
Becker, HC Gilje, Verena Friedrich and Julien Maire will be attending the
opening of the show.

A catalogue accompanying the exhibition will be published on 19 August
