Liebe RohrpostlerInnen,

Gelegenheit klanglich motivierte Alternativinterpretationen seines
Werkes dargelegt zu bekommen.

Beste Grüße, Shintaro Miyazaki

date: 7th of August 2011, Sun. 8pm
title: Gilbert Simondon and Sonic Theory
with: Patrick Harrop
place: General Public, Schönhauser Allee 167c, Berlin.

Patrick Harrop: Gilbert Simondon and Sonic Theory
This paper will elaborate a sonic theory based on Gilbert Simondon’s
philosophy of technology, which uses strong sonic and vibrational
metaphors for describing technical objects via transductive processes.
Gilbert Simondon is a still much unknown key figure of french theory,
who strongly influenced thinkers such as Michel Foucault, Gilles
Deleuze, Bernard Stiegler, Eric Alliez and others. The session will
first present some theoretical concepts and then will show some
concrete artworks related to the theory.

Profile
Patrick Harrop is Associate Professor in the Department of
