ARTWIKI WORKSHOP – CRITICAL NETWORK MAPPING AND ANALYSIS

Eintägiger Lehrgang zur Gestaltung und Verständnis von komplexen
Netzwerken mittels Kartographie und visueller Analyse im Kontext von
Kunst und Politik. Beginnend mit einfachen Handzeichungen entwickeln
die Teilnehmerinnen komplexe Kompositionen am Computer. Die
verwendeten Daten kommen aus existierenden Onlinedatenbanken oder sind
das Ergebnis kollektiver Imagination. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf
Topologie, Beziehungstypen, Informationsmodellierung und visueller
Analyse. Teilnehmerinnen erlernen eine Netzwerk-Kritik ausgewählter
Themen zu entwickeln durch Beobachtung und Verdichtung von Netzwerken,
und das Zeichnen und Diskutieren von Diagrammen.

A WORKSHOP BY BURAK ARIKAN

One day workshop focusing on the design and understanding of complex
networks through mapping and visual analysis in the context of art and
politics. Starting from hands on simple drawing exercises participants
gradually build complex compositions on the computer. Data will be
used from existing online databases or generated through collective
imagination. Emphasis on network topology, relationship types,
information modeling, and visual analysis. Participants will learn and
develop a critique of selected topics through observing and extracting
networks, sketching, and discussing diagrams.

We use Graph Commons at the workshops for visualization, group
collaboration, and further sharing.
