PRESS RELEASE

SAVE THE DATE – VOD platform realeyz.tv presents new Art Channels for
media artists at CTM.12 – Festival for Adventurous Music and Related
Arts on February 5, 2012

Online since 2009, the Berlin-based video on demand platform realeyz.tv
presents acclaimed arthouse films and creative documentaries from around
the world. realeyz.tv's catalogue also includes works which cross genre
boundaries and explore the artistic possibilities of film and video.

Now, realeyz.tv has just launched an Art Channel section devoted to
presenting media art – from Super 8 films to digital animation – for
online viewing. Later this year we will also offer high quality files on
storage media which themselves are limited edition art objects, signed
by the artist.

realeyz.tv is proud to present the emerging Art Channels at the
screening and talk: “ALL ACCESS OR LIMITED EDITION? ONLINE PRESENTATION
OF MEDIA ART”, on February 5, 2012,15:00, at Kunstraum Kreuzberg. The
presentation is an official event of CTM.12 – Festival for Adventurous
Music and Related Arts, and part of the Ghosts Off the Shelf exhibition.
Corresponding with the themes of CTM.12, our event explores aspects of
using digital means to rescue analogue works from oblivion. Another
focus will be on the various models for presenting media art online:
from free online archives on the one side, to fee based download-to-own
products that give artists remuneration for their work. realeyz.tv's Art
Channels aim to provide revenue opportunities for artists. This event is
also geared to reach out to media artists interested in presenting their
work online.

Two artists associated with the realeyz.tv Art Channel will screen
samples of their work:

› Media artist Jakobine Engel presents excerpts of her work in both
Super 8 and video that deal with Berlin as a divided city during the
Cold War and the aftermath after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

› Musician/composer and CTM.12 performer Manuel Göttsching will show a
rarely seen gem taken from his own extensive performances and art
happenings video archives from 1970s and 1980s West Berlin. Following
the screening, the artists will be available for Q&A with the audience.

Hosting this event is Mario Mentrup (filmmaker/actor/musician/art
journalist/publisher). Mentrup has co-directed such films as The Eagle
Is Gone and I Do Adore, and is also a member of the band Pasadena
Project. He also writes and broadcasts about art and culture for
reboot.fm and Flux.fm.
