1980s East Berlin: Robert and Ronald Lippok, operating under the name 
Ornament & Verbrechen (Ornament & Crime, based loosely on 20th century 
architectural theorist Adolf Loos), are part of a subculture within the 
late socialist GDR that manifests itself in churches, backroom bars and 
living rooms. The restricted space dissolves any barriers between 
musicians and listeners. This closeness to fans remains a guiding 
principle long after the fall of the Wall, even if the performing spaces 
grow bigger and side projects (the pioneering, internationally renowned 
postrock bands To Rococo Rot and Tarwater) become momentarily more 
important.
Directors Jakobine Motz’ and Claus Löser’s intimate portrait of the 
Lippok Brothers gives them the space to reminisce and explore their 
creative processes and relationships.
