STEIM presents on thursday 20 december at 8.30 pm
Live visual + music spectacle / post-workshop event
Over the two days of the 19th and 20th December, STEIM hosts a live
image processing workshop, exploring methods and techniques of
capturing and synthesising video and images in realtime focusing on
the nato.0+55 software, a revolutionary collection of modular objects
for the MAX programming environment. The workshop brings together a
group of the most experienced operators and programmers of this
environment, to spend two days researching and investigating sensor
and network interfaces. In addition to the previous workshop hosted by
STEIM in May 2001, workshops have also been hosted by V2 (DEAF 2000),
BEK, IAMAS, Salon/Japan, IRCAM, ZKM, Hangar and Betaville.
To turn the practice of live image processing away from an end in
itself, the event shall focus the use of projection and interactive
relationships away from the 'square box on a screen' paradigm. The
event will explore projection upon specific structures and spaces
other than blank wall space, encouraging the research of meaningful
and interactive relationships between the image, the space and the
viewer.
Guests include Martin Robinson (UK), Hans Christian Gilje (Norway),
Fiftyfifty (Barcelona) and Marko Kosnik (Slovenia).
The evening of the 20th shall also profile live music courtesy of
STEIM and guests, including Jordan Wynnychuk (New Zealand, Barcelona),
Anne La Berge (NL), Daniel Schorno (STEIM), Michel Waisvisz (STEIM),
Robert van Heumen (STEIM), Rozemarie Heggen (The EX, Nieuw Ensemble)
and Netochka Nezvanova (STEIM).
