The Art and Science of Interstellar Message Composition

The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) uses radio and
optical telescopes to seek signals from distant civilizations=2E  If some
day humankind decides to transmit messages of its own, rather than
merely listen, how might artistic and cultural perspectives be
incorporated?  This one-day workshop will address strategies for
integrating scientific and artistic perspectives on interstellar message
design=2E  Topics will include the challenges of creating intelligible
messages, as well as the unique contX-Mozilla-Status: 0009 humanities,
and sciences=2E=20

The workshop will be held in Paris on Monday, March 18, 2002=2E=20
Attendance will be limited to invited participants only=2E  Potential
