Dear Spectres
Sally Jane Norman tells us about atmosphere in France.=20
In Italy there is a suspended mood where nothing takes shape, neither =
in a bad or good direction (for the moment).
Only the "Lega" Party (Ultra-nationalist wing of the government) , as =
brilliant as ever proposes to insert in the new immigration law a =
restriction: first get in christian immigrants and then the other ones! =

About Linz
But SJN had sent before a message on Linz that never came through.
And i would like to read it.
I think that Linz this year deserves a special discussion.
The urge to define the "Take Over" of digital languages in Istitutions, =
media, museums etc... it's a very meaningful issue.
I don't know if the Festival succeeded.
One of the problems of a "Take Over" it's who is really winning.
Who is taking over on whom?
Techno-Art has been for a decade or more an extremely interesting field =
where (like in the sixties) new wave art, socio-political activism, new =
media issues mixed together all stirred by a powerful technological =
mutation.
And techno art has been one of the very few areas where radical thinking =
was not banned.
Radical thinking is (i believe) a necessary characteristic of modern =
culture.
A way to "think fast" in a society going fast.
So ( despite post-modern & after the wall thought) the value of the =
strong utopian ideas shown in techno-art where enormous.
Are we still in it?
The processes of integrations between the "separated area" of techno art =
and Contemporary art are they not changing the situation?
I have several things to say about this but i would like to know first =
what other people think.
Ciao
Lorenzo Taiuti
