1       Expert meeting, reflections on the format of exhibition making

2       Artist in Residence
Starting in 2002, the media lab at the Netherlands Media Art Institute,
Montevideo/Time Based Arts is offering artists from The Netherlands and
other countries the possibility of carrying out investigations in three
areas:
=B7       Streaming media
=B7       Wireless applications
=B7       3D applications
Artistic concept, innovation and cooperation are to be central in these
investigations. Preference will be given to research which makes use of
"open source" and that develops "tools" which will be available for further
use. Investigations that have an interdisciplinary character will also
receive preference. The artists will be working together with Dutch
universities and academies in the research. For more information contact

Visual Sensations is an information portal started by the Netherlands Media
Art Institute on the VJ culture: a complex world were the image is divers,
new and constantly changing. The Visual Sensations website shows the
diversity inside the VJ culture and searches for places where change is
taking place. Who are the ones working as  VJ, what kind of material is
being used, and what is the perspective of the =91outside=92 world on the VJ
phenomenon? A special mailing list gives the user the opportunity to react,
give remarks or suggestions. Visual Sensations is in a constant state of flu=
x.

1.      Expert meeting, reflections on the format of exhibition making
Het Nederlands Instituut voor Mediakunst organiseerde op  vrijdag 14
december 2001 een expert meeting. Zes jonge vakgenoten waren gevraagd om
hun idee=EBn te =91pitchen=92 over alternatieve en/of innovatieve
tentoonstellingsmodellen binnen instellingen voor hedendaagse beeldende
kunst. Uitgenodigd waren: Lisette Smits, curator Casco, Utrecht; Suzanne
van de Ven, curator Cargo, Amsterdam; Rutger Wolfson, directeur De
Vleeshal, Middelburg; Gijs Muller, kunstenaar, Amsterdam; Domeniek Ruiters,
kunstcriticus, Metropolis M en Tanja Elstgeest, curator Witte de With,

2.      Artist in Residence
Het medialab van het Nederlands Instituut voor Mediakunst biedt vanaf 2002
kunstenaars uit binnen- en buitenland de mogelijkheid onderzoek uit voeren
op drie gebieden:
=B7       Streaming media
=B7       Wireless Applications
=B7       3d toepassingen
Het artistieke concept, innovatie en samenwerking staan daarbij centraal.
De voorkeur gaat uit naar onderzoek dat gebruik maakt van =93open source=94 =
en
dat =93tools=94 ontwikkelt die voor verder gebruik beschikbaar zijn.
Onderzoeken met een interdisciplinair karakter hebben de voorkeur. In het
onderzoek werkt de kunstenaar samen met Nederlandse Universiteiten en

Visual Sensations is een informatie portal opgezet door het Nederlands
Instituut voor Mediakunst over de VJ cultuur: een complexe wereld waarin de
beeldtaal die gebruikt wordt divers, nieuw en voortdurend in ontwikkeling
is. De Visual Sensations website toont de verscheidenheid binnen de VJ
cultuur en laat zien waar en welke ontwikkelingen plaatsvinden. Wie houden
zich er mee bezig, wat voor materiaal en media gebruiken zij en hoe wordt
er vanuit de =91buitenwereld=92 naar het DJ/VJ fenomeen gekeken? Visual
Sensations is in a constant state of flux.
