Sixteen 3D web projects selected for on-line exhibition
http://www.web3dart.org

The Web3D on-line Art Show, selected and organized by Karel Dudesek and
Kathy Rae Huffman, was made from a competitive submission process. Each of
the works selected was considered for it=EDs operational functionality, the
content within the 3D frame, and the contribution towards the use of 3D in
creative and artistic works, in design and architecture.

Sixteen projects were selected from approximately 50 applicants, submitted
from twenty countries. This response demonstrates the wide range of
interest in representation and concept building in 3D among not only
members of the experimental web community, but also from practical needs
determined by designers and architects. The exploration of 3D space is
topical in educational programmes, where both theoretical issues and the
practical =ECpractice=EE based issues can be explored.

Artists in the 2002 selection include:

         Zvonimir Bakotin/Van Gogh TV
Ricardo Barreto, Fabio Prata and Fabiana Krepel

Web3D 2002 Conference 7th International Conference on 3D Web Technology
http://Web3DSymposium.org
 Tempe, AZ
 Feb. 24 28, 2002
Sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH and the WEB3D CONSORTIUM

Since 1999, Huffman and Dudesek have brought artists, designers and
architects work to the attention of the 3D Community, at the annual Web3D
Conference. The symposium focuses on the frontiers of 3D technologies and
multimedia. The annual Web3D Symposium is a major event in the Web3D
community, which unites researchers, developers, experimenters, and content
creators in a dynamic learning environment. Attendees share and explore
methods of using, enhancing or creating new 3D web technology such as
MPEG4, VRML, X3D, RM3D and Java3D.

This year=EDs conference brings welcome new from Michael Kaplan, Adobe, who
brought updated news about =EBAtmosphere=ED a 3D environment which promises =
an
integrated 3D community, fully compatible with multi-media and other web
functions.

 The ICA London
 March 13 April 13, 2002

Web3D Art 2002 will be installed in The Media Centre, The ICA London,
March 13 April 13, 2002.

The selection will be available during open hours of The Media Centre,
installed with the appropriate browsers, plug-ins and hardware specs
necessary for optimal viewing of the projects. This real space installation
will attempt to make accessible projects that casual viewers and net users
may find difficult to access from home computers, or from older computers
which do not have powerful system compatibility.
