1. club_transmediale

club_transmediale provides a platform for digital and electronic music as
well as related visual art productions. On 13 consecutive nights there will
be a programme with international artists and projects that place
themselves outside mainstream "DJ culture" by using self-produced material
or individual methods production like e.g. the extended use of customized
software tools or the manipulation of hardware. For the first time
club_transmediale cooperates with other international festivals for
electronic music and new media the Mutek festival for music, sound and new
technologies at Montreal, Quebec/Canada (www.mutek.ca) and the dutch Sonic
Acts Festival at Amsterdam, The Netherlands (www.sonicacts.com).

2. Performance @c + lia

At the transmediale_opening, Vienna based artist lia stages a minimalistic,
real-time produced audiovisual concert in dialogue with the Portuguese
musician @c. While @c is playing electronic music from his laptop, lia
creates the visuals for the performance. lia is part of a loosely organised
group of artists in Vienna who mainly develop new forms of visual and
interactive productions. http//lia.sil.at

2. Performance NYBBLE Engine

Action-Bots create a continually changing image and sound environment in
hyper-complex 3D-spaces. NYBBLE Engine is based on software for computer
games, reprogrammed by Jahrmann and Moswitzer, which is also used for the
production of Machinima films. The performance shows an entirely new
generative dimension of cyberspace. www.climax.at/nybble

4. Performances Palindrome / John deKron

With the help of motion tracking systems, the dancers of the Palindrome
Dance Company work with space as a virtual instrument. Movement and sound
are closely interwoven with one another, and refer to the utopia of a
melting of human being, machine and surroundings. The space becomes a
resounding expression of the dancing interaction. www.palindrome.de

In "Reflektion" John deKron generates an interactive self-portrait by
directly reacting to and audiovisually reflecting on his own movements, the
surrounding audience and the space itself with his self-programmed VJ-video
mixer. www.thisserver.de

The performance of the Palindrome Intermedia Performance Group ("... seine
hohle Form ...") will be shown at the beginning of the transmediale Award
Ceremony, the performance by John deKron during the reception afterwards.
