Burt Barr
13 September - 26 October
Barr describes his video works as MOVING IMAGES, 'photographs that
move'. Filmed in black and white, the video projections exhibited
at Platform; Focus I, 2000, Focus II, 2001 and Angel, 2001, all
concentrate on one action or movement, causing it to appear timeless.
Throughout his career Barr has worked with other members of the
New York art-world, casting them as actors in his videos. Included
on video in this exhibition are his wife Trisha Brown, artist Elizabeth
Murray and dancers Stanford Makishi and Jimena Paz.
Burt Barr shows with, and is a member of the Brent Sikkema Gallery
in New York City. He has also had shows at the Reina Sofia Museum
in Madrid, The Whitney Museum in New York City, along with works
in institutions such as the Yale University Art Gallery, the ZKM
Museum in Germany, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Museum
Boymans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
