The Department of the Arts seeks a candidate for full time tenure 
track or tenured position in Computer Visualization. MFA, other 
terminal degree, or equivalent artistic accomplishment and 
recognition are required.  An advanced degree or equivalent 
experience in computer graphics (M.Sc or PhD) is also highly 
desirable.

This candidate will teach courses in digital imaging and 
visualization, and will assume leadership for building up the 
computer graphics and animation area in the Arts Department.  
Previous teaching experience is desired, and particular emphasis will 
be placed on the ability to teach real-time computer graphics 
programming and the production of computer animation. Candidates 
shall present an artistic and pedagogical statement that positions 
the craft and art of computer graphics in relation to other 
contemporary art practices (e.g., dance, music).

The candidate would have the opportunity to participate in the 
research and production activities of Rensselaer's Experimental Media 
and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC), opening in 2006. EMPAC will 
provide excellent facilities (theater, black boxes, studios) 
dedicated to interdisciplinary projects which develop artistic and 
technologically innovative works.

The Department of the Arts at Rensselaer is dedicated to 
interdisciplinary creative research in electronic arts. As an art 
program situated within the context of a technological university, we 
offer a unique creative environment in which to develop and realize 
innovative art. Rensselaer is located in Troy, New York, 150 miles 
north of New York City.

in the form of articles, books, videotapes (1/2", 3/4, MiniDV,
