Light has an intense impact on our emotional and physiological=20
wellbeing. By incorporating illumination into familiar surfaces and=20
objects, we can shape a living space that responds to its surroundings=20=

and inhabitants.

Rachel Wingfield (loop) creates responsive, luminous fabrics and=20
objects, using new materials and technologies as a form of visual=20
communication in built-environments. Within FoAM's 'illumine'=20
programme, she will exhibit her growing surfaces for the future of=20
everyday life, including the award winning 'Digital Dawn' window blind=20=

and 'Light Sleeper' bedding.

Rachel Wingfield graduated from the Royal College of Art (London) in=20
2001 with an MPhil in textiles. She started up her independent design=20
practice under the name of loop in 2003. Rachel was a finalist for the=20=

Peugeot Design Awards winning the development prize in 2002 for Light=20
Sleeper Bedding, she was short listed for 'best new comer 2003' in the=20=

100% Design Blueprint Awards and featured on BBC=92s Tomorrows World=20
'Best New Invention 2003'.
