The exhibition =93fast forward=93 presents one of the internationally =
most=20
acclaimed private collections of contemporary art =96 we have=20
Munich-based Ingvild Goetz, with her immense commitment and knowledge=20
of the subject to thank for its amazing profile. With her impressive=20
collection, which has its roots in the 1960s, she has assembled a=20
collection that is as comprehensive as it is personal, offering a=20
panorama of contemporary art of a truly museum-like status. Ingvild=20
Goetz was one of the very few private collectors who at an early date=20
was an ardent and continual supporter of the new medium of video art.=20
Over the years, Ingvild Goetz established a media art collection that=20
is now one of the most outstanding worldwide.

Now, for the first time the ZKM offers the opportunity to view a large=20=

representative selection of media works from the Goetz Collection =96=20
over 70 videos, video installations and films. The works showcased here=20=

focus on current productions from the 1990s to the present. Ms. Goetz=20
attaches great importance to presenting the works of the =93very young=20=

generation=94.

The works selected here ask questions about time, transience and=20
memory, qua psychosocial studies =96 in their playful use of filmic =
codes=20
they constitute a counter pole to filmic productions =E0 la Hollywood.=20=

They address the changed perceptual strategies of our accelerated=20
present, in which information is often run through and absorbed in=20
=93fast forward=93-mode. The surfeit of information calls for selective=20=

perception =96 this in turn hinges on the respectively personal =
interests.

The English/German exhibition catalog will contain not only essays but=20=

also comprehensive documentation on the entire media works in the Goetz=20=

Collection.
