onedotzero8 adventures in moving image
the world’s largest dedicated digital film festival returns to the uk

28 may-6 june 2004 at the ica, the institute of contemporary arts, london

onedotzero returns with its flagship festival of digital moving image 
at the institute of contemporary arts, london. the festival then 
embarks on a national and international tour. this year’s festival 
returns with ten days of feature length films, edgy documentaries and 
bold new graphic short films by the most visionary creative minds. 
events include screenings, seminars, discussions and live club nights.

london, uk followed by national and international dates

"lights, camera, interaction: onedotzero is redefining the visual 
landscape" the guardian

now is the time to get working on your next festival submission and 
let your creative output reach and inspire thousands around the 
world. approaching its eighth annual edition onedotzero has travelled 
the world with over 50 dates a year from berlin to madrid, tokyo to 
shanghai, prague to mexico city and more.

onedotzero is now looking for original moving image work for 
onedotzero8 for the following programmes:

features: this strand showcases feature films and documentaries with 
the slant on twisted narratives and technological overtones with a 
special focus on asian features rarely seen within the uk.

wow + flutter: onedotzero’s pioneering programme presents
innovative and contemporary motion graphics, graphic-led short films 
that play and subvert forms of narrative, whether explicit or 
implied. more abstract work is also eligible. preference will be 
placed on new work created for, or premiering at the festival.

wavelength: innovative and risk taking work from the most adventurous 
promo directors around - includes director's cuts, lost promos and 
previously unseen creations. Recent programmes have included work 
from michel gondry, dawn shadforth, intro, shynola, lynn fox, johnny 
hardstaff, tim hope 


j-star: onedotzero first presented over seven years ago the 
startlingly distinct and varied japanese styles from a diverse range 
of disciplines: anime, motion graphics, promos and animation. with 
strong links in japan, touring in 2003 to four key japanese creative 
cities

extended_play: short film / animation programme focussing ! on narra 
tive driven work, which extends beyond the boundaries of storytelling 
and style. the 2003 programme included the multi award-winning 'dad's 
dead' by chris shepherd and bafta winner 'my wrongs' by chris morris.

lens flare: the first festival to present computer gaming visuals on 
the big screen. over the past seven years onedotzero has featured 
full motion video [fmv], pre-rendered movie sequences and in-game 
action, previewing exclusive pre release footage. onedotzero is keen 
to receive animations and unseen movies and of course classic, and 
yet to be released animation sequences from all platforms.

dvd
moving image and graphics biased projects from around the world 
specially produced or released on dvd for the festival's new media 
extensions.

fee for all programmes.

send vhs/cd-rom/dvd pal or ntsc for initial selection. final delivery 
of selected work should be on beta sp pal or digi beta pal. 
submission deadline february 28, 2004. earlier selections will also 
occur.
