INVITATION
Celebrating SCAN one year on
7 10 pm, Monday 11 April 2005
Aspex Gallery
27 Brougham Road
Southsea
Portsmouth
PO5 4PA
Launched just over a year ago, SCAN is the innovative new media arts agency
in the south, comprising a network of organisations that are committed to
enabling experimental collaborative works between digital artists and
variety of partners.
Please join us at Aspex as we celebrate our achievements and work to date.
Find out more about our activities and our plans for the future; meet those
involved including representatives from our member organisations and the
artists and partners involved in our work. Refreshments will be available.
The event will also provide a showcase of 2 of our major initiatives:
9PIN Mapping the SCAN Network - James Coupe and Hedley Roberts, Hywel
Davies, Armin Medosch and Ivan Pope
9PIN is a networked art installation that attempts to monitor the activities
of the organisations that constitute SCAN, in order to produce a kind of
viral consciousness and/or mapping of the network.
Projects including an investigation into real and virtual ports, artistic
experimentation with GPS devices and intelligent systems modelling
environmental fluctuations at each SCAN location.
Data Agency
An online exhibition that uses data from real-time tools such as webcams and
streamed audio. Playing with the found data, the artists Susan Collins,
Igloo, Lorie Novak and Neil C Smith create new forms to enhance the meaning
of their work.
Also being platformed is Jeannie Kerswell's online version of her project
'the colour happened on the inside' for Tricorn Centre, Portsmouth
