NADJA MAURER: Hibrido Parodio
============================
3.- 7. AUGUST 2005
ERÖFFNUNG: MITTWOCH, 3. AUGUST 2005, AB 20 UHR
Hybridity as an epistemological category.
Hybridity as a sense of transversal science.
Hybridity as a theory of cultural studies.
Hybridity as a communicative medium.
Hybridity as an urban category.
Hybridity as a category of territory and bodies.
Hamburg-based artist and writer Nadja Maurer explores the various ways
that the notion of hybridity has been misunderstood. She will present a
wall drawing, a talk on the polysemy of 'hybridity,' and a powerpoint
lecture and performance. Opening night will include a mini-broadcast
sound installation with 100 radios and one transmitter, followed by
Heidi Mortenson + Kevin Blechdom live in collaboration with bootlab's
radio.bar, a bi-weekly listening lounge.
Maurer's research addresses the intersection between cultural
anthropology, cognitive neuroscience, and geography, and has been
presented internationally, including Ars Electronica (2004) and
Galerie88 in Hamburg (2004). She is currently working on a book on
urbanity and space, which reflects the results of her anthropological
field research on squatters in Palermo. She regularly broadcasts
"hertzschlag" a radio program at the freies Sendekombinat (fsk radio)
in Hamburg.
