"USUK" at the Lab Gallery at the Roger Smith Hotel will run concurrent to
~scopeNY and the Armory Art Fair in New York (March 2005) and concurrent to
the Frieze Art Fair in London (November 2005).

With similar lampooning strategies found in the original Armory Show in the
US and the landmark
"Sensation" exhibit in the UK, the selected works by remarkable emerging
artists in "USUK" will
problematize reactions to modern capitalist ethics by addressing mounting
tensions and political agendas in the two countries, fueled by more than
four years of war waged in the Middle East. With metaphorical, literal, and
historical analogies of the devastating effects of war on sustainable
society and fragile geologies, the artworks reference western politics and
its subversive deployment of selective censorship and deliberate
misinformation in the mass media.
