inviting you to apply for the first artistic
multimedia campus BUMA 1 , Balkan Artistic Multimedia
Action on the location of Glumchevo Brdo (Actor's
Hill), village Barajevo, Serbia – Project “Open House”
,

28th May - 07th June

 

Vision:

BUMA is a strategic project for rebuilding local
cultural heritage of sub - urban ( lately rural )
community of Barajevo , in the village area named
Glumchevo Brdo. On this location, project “Open House”
aims to enable artists from Balkan and ex Yugoslavia
to mediate the process of conservation and
revitalization of local cultural heritage in the
process of transition towards globalization.

   

  BUMA 1- “ Open House“ project offers an old
demolished family house in the village named Actor's
Hill, from 1928. as a setting point of the artistic
campus. We invite 13 artists from the region (
Slovenia , Croatia , Bosnia and Hercegovina, Srpska
Kraina , Macedonia , Serbia and Montenegro ) and from
the Balkan ( Albania , Greece , Bulgaria , Romania ,
Moldavia ) which will be selected by the project jury
of 5 members. Artists practicing visual arts and
multimedia, painting, sculpting, mosaic, ceramics,
woodcrafts, photography, performing arts and
architecture are eligible to apply.

 

Applying candidates should answer the following
requests:

            1) Project proposal for work to be done on
the site of the building itself, using the found
materials, equipment and tools. Campus should cover
extra tools.

            2) Transformation of a local folklore
heritage in the contemporary artistic practices which
include

direct contacts with village dwellers in the art work
or process of art.

 

Project foresees the following conditions:

 

A) Accommodation in the local community of the
dwellers' houses ,

B ) organized meals in the campus ,

C ) equipment, materials and tool for work in the
campus. Artists should list the needed tools and the
equipment in the application form.

D ) Covered costs of transport in the local. Costs of
transport for participants are not provided by now.

E ) Access to Internet and computer software for image
and sound design accompanied with a computer
technician are to be provided.

F ) Meetings of dwellers and the artists on everyday
BUM-BUMA gatherings is going to be organized.

G) Presentations and performances in a local House of
culture Barajevo, in the Student cultural centre in
Belgrade , Kovin, Nish , Kragujevac and Vrsac are
going to be organized in 2005. We aim to make CD,
Internet presentation and print materials.

      Your project proposals should be writen in the
application form and sent by e-mail as attachment.
Please, attach your artistic CV accompanied with 3-5
jpg. images of your own work not older than 5 years in
resolution of 72 pixels/inch., in proportion 600 h 800
pixels.
