jayce,
your messages do not get screened by people, there is a piece of
software (spam-assassin) that tries to filter out spam - using it is
part of the reason why alan can praise the relatively good
signal-to-noise ratio we have on the list. 'spam-assassin' blocks
messages larger than 40K, or ones with attachments, or ones by
addresses that are not subscribed, or ones that use (what it regards
as) too much html-formating.
'spam-assassin' does things like this:
X-Spam-Status: No, score=1.1 required=20.0 tests=BAYES_50,HTML_30_40,
HTML_MESSAGE,MIME_QP_LONG_LINE,NO_REAL_NAME autolearn=disabled
version=3.0.4
X-Spam-Level: *
X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.0.4 (2005-06-05) on
einhorn.in-berlin.de
X-Spam-Score: ** (2.838)
AWL,BAYES_50,HTML_30_40,HTML_MESSAGE,MIME_QP_LONG_LINE,NO_REAL_NAME
***
if you send plain-text messages from an address that is subscribed,
things simply go through. (you can switch to 'plain text' in the
preferences of your e-mail programme.)
***
your message below was sent as a formatted message, which is why it
was automatically blocked. i now send it as plain text, and it will
go through.
other people have also experienced this, and they normally write to
inke or myself, and we then push the respective messages onto the
list.
nothing should get lost.
regards,
-a
