Media Art Festival Friesland
The Media Art Festival differentiates itself by offering a platform
for the new generation and well-known media artists, and sometimes a
work place as well.
The festival is developing growth thanks to the substantial
contributions by the Province of Friesland, the city of Leeuwarden
and the Mondriaan Foundation.
This growth is visible by the amount of participating cities. The
last years, Drachten and Harlingen took part next to the main
exhibition Young Talent and the sideline programming in Leeuwarden.
The festival gained the city of Groningen and Beetsterzwaag
(Friesland). But most of all the growth is noticeable in artistic
energetic; next to exhibitions other events are realised to merge
media and art even more.
New is the international program Sound Vision. Other international
programmes are the Video Salon which takes four days with a
kaleidoscopic international program, the Computer Gallery and the
Artist in residence program which evokes high expectations.
New in the exhibition program is the design of several locations in
Leeuwarden and Groningen shows international documents as well. The
interest for the young generation came in front next to the
predominance of high quality and professional art. The motto of the
exhibitions is emphasized as Young Talent. Media Art Friesland
presents a unique selection of artist graduated of the Dutch
academies of arts.
The multi media event Experience offers workshops, presentations by
well-known companies, artists and VJs and the Multi Media Art
Friesland Award for Frisian college students will be presented.
The growth and development positions the Media Art Festival Friesland
as the Dutch Nordic festival for the international media art world
and education sector.
