Call for participants for a Space Art Exhibition at 56th International
Astronautical Congress in Fukuoka
The 56th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) will be held at Marine
Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan from October 16th to 21st, 2005.
IAC is hosted by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), in
cooperation with the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and the
International Institute of Space Law (IISL) to promote world peace through
both space technology and micro-gravity applications. The congress has
various kinds of sessions not only science, technology, but also law,
environment issues, natural resources, education, etc with all manner of
space related fields. More than 3000 people from 50 countries are expected
to attend the technical sessions of the IAC conference.
Space Fair, which will be held as a part of IAC, expects more than 60,000
visitors.
Space Fair covers various kinds of space related area such as technology,
informatics, environment, science, communication, life science, education,
living in space and so on. Many agencies, companies and universities
participate in it every year.
This time, a Space Art Exhibition at Space Fair is planned for the first
time. It will be exciting and you will discover another aspect of space
development and astronomy. Following are guidelines for the submission of
your pieces, drawings, pictures, and crafts. Please join us with your

Space ArtÅF
Sculpture pieces, drawings, pictures, crafts and photographs with the
motif of space and space at zero gravity, art created by technologies and
materials developed by space activities, and pieces which inspire feelings
and emotions for space and the universe.
ApplicationÅF
Application forms are available from the web site.

A description of your space art with pictures, your biography, and exhibit
style should be sent by e-mail.
Application DeadlineÅF September 18, 2005
SelectionÅF
According to the size limitations of the exhibition hall, the Exhibition
committee will select works from among the applications. If selected, you
will receive a letter from the exhibition office at the end of September
notifying you of your selection.
Period of exhibitionÅF From October 16 to October 21
Set up is on October 15 and exhibit take down is on
October 21
Participation GuidelinesÅF
(1) Participants participate at their own risk, The exhibition office
cannot be responsible for participants or their works. If participants
need insurance, they should purchase insurance by themselves.
(2) Participants should lease equipments and facilities, for example
table, wire, light, and so on. Exhibition Office will assist it. (cf. Spot
light costs 4200 yen-.)
(3) Participants must cover the expense of making their art and
transporting it to the Exhibition site.
(4) Participants should prepare a self-explanatory CAPTION (description of
your pieces) by themselves.
(5) Participants can sell their pieces, drawings, pictures, crafts and
photographs. In the case that someone will be in attendance at the art
display to sell articles, 10% of total sale price will be paid to the
exhibition committee. In the case that nobody will be in attendance at IAC
to sell the articles, the exhibition committee will take an extra 15%
commission (a total of 25% of the sale price) for acting as a salesperson
on behalf of the seller. The Exhibition committee will provide for a
person to staff the exhibit to sell the art.
(6) Exhibition Office will prepare an entrance pass for the exhibit hall
(ID Pass) for participating artist.
