arts/sciences?
anna munster in dialogue with geert lovink
In the last five years there has been an intensification of artistic
engagement with the life sciences. This has lead to new directions in
media arts practice such as biometric interface design (the work of
George
Khut, <http://www.georgekhut.com/cardiomorphologies/description.html>http://www.georgekhut.com/cardiomorphologies/description.html)
and bioart (Tissue Culture and
Art, <http://www.tca.uwa.edu.au>http://www.tca.uwa.edu.au/).
Can artists critically engage with the biotech economy through this
kind of art work? Or is this another instance of art merging with
cultures of cognitive and creative capitalism? What does this bioart
tell us about the realities and problems of collaboration between the
arts and sciences?
