Test_Lab*

*15 September 2006, 17.00h-24.00h, V2_, Eendrachtsstraat 10, Rotterdam.*

Test_Lab is a bi-monthly public event hosted by V2_, Institute for the 
Unstable Media that provides an informal setting to demonstrate, test, 
present and discuss current artistic research and development (aRt&D). 
In this edition, the Belgium based arts collective Workspace Unlimited 
initiated by Thomas Soetens and Kora van den Bulcke, will demonstrate 
their new project /IMPLANT/. Additionally game and media design students 
from the HKU will present new installation work in the form of a test 
run, with DJs Siuli K.O., Basskowski, and Uberchica performatively 
augmenting the evening..

*Demonstration (**17h-19h)*

The IMPLANT project, both a physical installation in the Kunstencentrum 
de Vooruit in Ghent as well as an interactive /virtual space 
environment/ forms the third link in Workspace Unlimited’s network of 
virtual worlds forming the /Common Grounds /project. During the opening 
event of /IMPLANT/ in Ghent the other two /virtual world/ installations 
/EXTENSION/ emanating from the Society for Art & Technology (SAT) in 
Montreal and /DEVMAP/ at V2_ in Rotterdam will be linked for the first 
time. The three installations will be shown simultaneously, meaning that 
visitors can follow the linked events at all three locations. This can 
be done by following the streamed video feeds from within the networked 
locations on multiple screens and then by entering the other locations 
through the V2_ /DEVMAP/ portals. (More information on /IMPLANT/ below).

*Testpanel (19h-20h)*

Following the official opening of /IMPLANT/ students Game Design & 
Development and Digital Media Design of the Utrecht School of Arts will 
show their graduation installations. The audience will serve as a test 
panel to generate feedback on the work of these new young designers and 
developers.

*Test_Lab Live (20h-24h)*

Several DJs with a special relation to V2_ will perform live during 
Test_Lab. DJs Siuli K.O., Basskowski en Uberchica will take place behind 
the decks, while /DEVMAP/ serves as the portal to virtually dance with 
the visitors in Ghent and Montreal within the networked /Common Grounds/!
