Killer-application is people-TV
January 2007
KillerTV wishes everybody that co-operated and watched the program a
prosperous new year. KillerTV started in December with the
introduction of High Definition Television and will go on in January
2007. From December onwards we broadcast in the aspect ratio of 16:9,
instead of 4:3. We also improved the encoding quality (the way video
is translated to computer-language). In the course of January
KillerTV will be made available on demand in High Definition, Live
the stream will still be at http://connect.waag.org.
The new website is being developed and we will start experimenting as
soon as the first version isready to use.

A workshop/presentation about film art and dreamworlds with Dutch
director Erik van Zuylen. Van Zuylen is a connoisseur of European
film art and will introduce German artist Hans Richter. Richter was a
‘homo universalis’ who worked as painter, designer, poet, director,
writer and publisher. For Dutch company Philips he made a number of
commercials and he even lived in the Netherlands for a while.
For KillerTV van Zuylen shows work of this pioneer of the abstract
film and tells about the influence of Richter on his work. Students
and young artists also show their work and and discuss about abstract
film art. The central theme of the evening is dreamworlds. Arjen
Keesmaat, Machted Ardse and Kuba Szutkowski will join the discussion
and show their work.

exchanges. The underlying software HIVEWARES is an open source
operating system designed to function on commercial networks like
WiFi. Every Hive enabled device is a node in the network. Internet-

development and tells about its history, the possibilities and the
future of Hive. Grafov will be joined by Alexei Blinov, and
