TIRANA INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART

Mbi gjitshka që donim të dinim, por nuk guxuam kurrë të pyesnim.

Ekspozita në datë 25 Maj, ora 17:00 - 19:00, tek Tre Kullat, mbrapa 
Stadiumit Qemal Stafa

(pranë Pasticeri Venecia).

Ekspozita do të qëndrojë e hapur nga data 25 Maj deri 3 Qershor,

Nga ora 11:00 deri në 18:00.

Residencës së dytë të TICA-s po i vjen fundi dhe gjithshka do të 
festohet me një ekspozitë me punë nga artistët residentë:

Katarina Lundgren     jeton/punon në Stokolm, Suedi,

Leonard Qylafi          jeton/punon në Tiranë, Shqipëri
Karl Ingar Roys         jeton midis Olso, Norvegji dhe Berlin, Gjermani.

Katarina Zdjelar        jeton/punon midis Beogradit, Serbi dhe 
Roterdamit, Hollandë.

Third Face of Power është një punë në proçes nga Katarina Lungren e 
fokusuar mbi shprehitë dhe veprimet e pushtetit në propagandën 
komuniste shqiptare. Jam e interesuar në mënyrën sesi pushteti 
përshkrohej dhe sesi skenarët fiktivë të këtyre filmave përdoreshin 
si propagandë për të mbështetur strukturën e pushtetit të mëparshëm 
dhe për të shtypur konflikte të padëshiruara. Puna është një 
instalacion pamjesh me fotografi aktorësh dhe skenash nga filma të 
ndryshëm. Titulli i punës vjen nga një teori akademike "Tre fytyrat e 
pushtetit", nga Steven Lukes.

White lyrics nga Leonard Qylafi. Video instalacioni  përbëhet nga dy 
projeksione. Ndryshimi midis të cilave është prezenca e personazhit 
në anën e majtë  dhe mungesa e tij në   të djathtën, ku ndodhet vetëm 
një karrige bosh . Në një karrige afër dritares ai ulet dhe luan në 
kitarë një pjesë muzikore të kompozuar nga vetë autori. Me rrjedhën e 
muzikës drita që hyn nga jashtë ndryshon ngadalë duke dhënë një sens 
të kalimit të kohës. Pasi muzika mbaron ai largohet dhe mbeten vetëm 
dy karrige bosh. I gjithë instalacioni video kalon përmes tërheqjes 
nga imazhi i perceptuar, shprehjes së muzikës si një gjuhë personale 
dhe një poetizmi meditativ.

Në punën "Some humans as statues some not" kam fotografuar njerëz të 
rastësishëm që kam takuar gjatë qëndrimit tim në Shqipëri. Disave i 
kam kërkuar të imagjinojnë sesi statujat socio-realiste të komunizmit 
ishin, ato që nuk janë më të pranishme në vendet publike. Të tjerëve 
thjesht i kam kërkuar ti fotografoj, pa përmendur të shkuarën dhe

Për disa vite tashmë Katarina Zdjelar ka trajtuar një seri projektesh 
që hetojnë mbi mënyrën sesi ne përdorim gjuhën, sesi gjuha, ndonëse 
është një seri kodesh që mund të deshifrohen dhe shifrohen, 
gjithashtu përfaqëson një seri hetimesh midis kodit të gjuhës dhe 
fizikalitetin e ligjëratës. Ajo gjithashtu interesohet mbi natyrën e 
gjuhës; sesi modelon trupat tanë kur flasim, sesi na përvijëzon në 
komunitet dhe sesi krijon hapësirë dhe e zhduk përsëri atë. (marrë

është e ideuar dhe organizuar nga TICA me mbështjetjen e Fondit 
Europian per Kulturen, Institutit te Bienales se Tiranes, Bashkise se 
Tiranes dhe Kultura ne Levizje .

Everything we want to know,   but did not dare to ask.

Opening at 25th of May 5 pm - 9 pm, at Tre Kullat, behind Qemal Stafa 
Stadium (close to pasticeri Venecia). Open 25 th  May to 3rd of June, 
between 11am -6pm.

TICA's second Residency Period is coming to an end and will be 
celebrated with an exhibition featuring works by the Residency 
artists:

Katarina Lundgren     living/ working in Stockholm, Sweden .

Leonard Qylafi          living/working in Tirana, Albania .
Karl Ingar Roys         living between Oslo , Norway & Berlin , Germany.

Katarina Zdjelar        living/working between Belgrade, Serbia & 
Rotterdam, Holland.

The Third Face of Power is a work in progress by Katarina Lundgren 
focusing on expressions and acts of power in Albanian communist 
propaganda features. I'm interested in how power is depicted and how 
the fictive plot in these films where used as propaganda to support 
the existing power structure and to suppress unwanted conflicts. The 
work is a slideshow installation with photographs of actors and 
scenery from different films. The project name comes from a academic 
theory Three Faces of Power, coined by Steven Lukes.

White Lyrics by Leonard Qylafi, we see a video installation with two 
projections in the same time, filmed at the same place. The 
difference between the two is the presence of the person in the left 
and the missing of him in the right. There is a chair at a window 
where he sits and plays guitar, music composed by the artist. While 
playing the guitar the light changes and when the music is over he 
leaves the place. The whole video installation has a strong 
attraction for the image perception, the music expression as a self 
language and a meditative poetry.

In the work "Some humans as statues some not" I have photographed 
random people I have met during my time in Albania . I asked some of 
them to imagine how the socio-realistic statues of the communist past 
looked like. The ones that no longer is present in public spaces. 
Others I just asked to take their picture, without mentioning the 
past and the statues.   Karl Ingar Roys

For several years Katarina Zdjelar has been engaged on a series of 
projects that investigate how we deal with language, and how 
language, as well as being a series of codes that can be decoded and 
encoded, also represent a series of negotiations between the code of 
language and the physicality of speech. She is also concerned with 
the material nature of language; how it shapes our speaking bodies, 
how it draws us together into communities, how it makes space and

organized by  TICA, with the support of European Cultural Foundation, 
Institute of Tirana Biennale, Tirana Town Hall and Moving Culture .
