V2_Events: Test_Lab: Better Than Reality

In this edition of Test_Lab, we will present the results of V2_’s
Better Than Reality artist-in-recidence projects alongside other
artworks that make use of state-of-the-art augmented reality techniques.
It’s 2008’s answer to the old promises of virtual reality, and a
stimulus for discussion about future developments.

Featuring: CREW (Eric Joris and Vincent Jacobs), Joachim Rotteveel,
Marnix de Nijs, Boris Debackere, and Jonas Hielscher.

V2_Events: Life & Art I: TransAgriculture

Life & Art is a new program series at V2_ focused around the
intertwinement of art and life. Asking whether art can be lived or a
life can be art takes on a new meaning in an age of genetic technology,
financial crisis and living art.

Lectures and action, featuring: René Boomkens, Annalee Newitz, Natalie
Jeremijenko, Richard Reynolds and Michiko Nitta.

V2_Lab: Call for AIR proposals – Soft Technology

Through 7 December, artists wishing to work with wearable technology can
submit their projects to be considered for the artist-in-residence place
at V2_.

V2_Lab: Vacancy Hardware Developer

Up from January 2009, V2_Lab is looking for a HARDWARE DEVELOPER to
enhance its team four days/30.4 hours a week.

The hardware developer will occupy an important position on the V2_Lab
team. He or she will work with software developers, designers,
production staff and artists. The hardware developer will design and
realize technological solutions to be used in a diverse range of
artistic projects.

City Media

On November 10, Rotterdam Mayor Ivo Opstelten officially switched on the
first City Media screens in the /Beurs/ metro station. These screens
comprise a new media platform in the city and provide space for
information, commerce and culture. V2_ is very curious about City
Media’s cultural content and has been approached by its editorial team
to help them think about the possibility of making the medium interactive.
