INTERDISCIPLINARY SEMINAR
in the frame of RO-MD/Moldova in Two Scenarios project
Period: 25-26 of October 2008
Location: Museum of Romanian Literature, M.Kogalniceanu, str. 31
August 1989, Chisinau
The seminar is organized by [KSA:K] - Center for Contemporary Art,
Chisinau in partnership with VECTOR Association and will be structured
in two sesions. The first section will focus on the analysis of the
current context of inter-relation between Romania and Moldova. This
relation will be viewed and commented upon from within Moldova, as
well as from outside the EU.
Moderator (First Session): Matei Bejenaru-visual artist/President of
Vector Association and co-organizer of RO-MD/Moldova in Two Scenarios.
The second section will be dedicated to the presentation of curatorial
practices and artistic strategies exploring the contexts of some
divided (split up) territories. This part of the seminar is rather
important from the point of view of media coverage of the RO-MD
interrelation and placement of the latter in a wider international
context. This session will include presentation and commenting upon
some other cases: ongoing projects in Myanmar (Burma) - begun since
1997 - where divisions are drawn by religion, ethnicities and the need
for survival in a harsh political environment presented by Jay
Koh-artist and cultural manager (currently based in Ulaanbaatar), the
social and economic context of formerly divided regions of Germany
(DRG and FRG), presented by Laura Schleussner-frelance curator from
Berlin, as well as some scenarios on cultural approximation of the two
Moldova regions in a new regional geopolitical context produced by
Catalin Gheorghe-curator from Iasi and Lilia Dragneva-curator from
Chisinau.

RO-MD/Moldova in Two Scenarios project aim is to investigate by
juxtaposing the current cultural, social and political situation in
two Moldova regions (Moldova region from Romania and the Republic of
Moldova)
RO-MD/Moldova in Two Scenarios is organized by [KSA:K] - Center for
Contemporary Arta, Chisinau in partnership with VECTOR Association,
Iasi, Romania.
The project is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute through
the CANTEMIR Program, Bucharest; PATTERNS Program /ERSTE Foundation,
Vienna and MONDRIAAN Stichting, Amsterdam.
