Palm Top Theater Opening Party

V2_ is starting the new year off with a bang. The Palm Top Theater 
exhibition, part of the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s XL 
program, opens a week before the festival starts.

V2_ is pleased to invite you to the official exhibition opening at 5 
p.m. on Friday, January 21. There’ll be music, film, animation, drinks, 
snacks and plenty of artists in 3D!

Palm Top Theater is based on an analog application for the iPod and iPad 
that lets you watch films and animations “in 3D.” V2_ and guest curator 
Maki Ueda have compiled an exhibition of new work by Joost Rekveld, 
Geert Mul, Lia, Arno Coenen, Lina Kusaite/FoAM, and Performing Pictures. 
Students from several art schools, led by Kasper van der Horst and 
Denise Pakes, have also developed new content for this experimental, 
playful 3D environment.

The exhibition will be open 1–7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays from 
January 22 to February 13.

V2_ at Transmediale
Feb. 1–6, 2011
Berlin

V2_ will be well represented at the upcoming edition of the Transmediale 
media art festival in Berlin. Arjen Mulder will present V2_’s new books 
The Politics of the Impure and From Image to Interaction at the Haus der 
Kulturen der Welt on Sunday, February 6. The Serendipitor project Mark 
Shepard developed last summer with the V2_Lab has been nominated for the 
Transmediale Award.

V2_Agency Launched at Transmediale

Moreover, V2_ and the Netherlands Media Art Institute (NIMk, Amsterdam) 
have joined forces to introduce their media art dissemination and 
distribution services. At Transmediale we will announce the birth of a 
new agency for the distribution of media artworks (V2_Agency), present a 
shared catalogue of artworks, and a small showcase of represented works.

Telcosystems presents 12_Series at IFFR
Jan. 27 – Feb. 6, 2011. Daily: 12:00 – 20:00
Pakhuismeesteren, Rotterdam

The installation 12_series by Telcosystems is one of the works 
represented by the new V2_Agency. Just like Palm Top Theater it will be 
part of the IFFR XL-Program. In a pitch-black room, twelve screens and 
twelve speakers make up the audiovisual horizon, revealing the dynamics 
of twelve identical image and sound-generating machines. Inspired by the 
principles of evolution and decentralized autonomous decision making, 
12_Series implements forms of audiovisual imitation, mutation and 
recombination, aiming for the emergence of a captivating complexity out 
of a vocabulary of rudimentary shapes, sounds and logic.
