*Translife - Media Art China 2011*
Jul 26 - Aug 16 | Beijing | China

After the overwhelming success in 2008 of the media art exhibition
Synthetic Times the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) decided to make
it a recurring triennial event. The Chinese like to take the bull by the
horns. So now, in 2011, NAMOC is back with another impressive show. V2_
selected work by Marnix de Nijs, Edwin van der Heide and Kasia Molga for
the exhibition. Arjen Mulder wrote an essay for the 300 pages catalog.

*Blowup: Every Artist, A Journalist*
August 25 | 20:00 - 23:00 | V2_ | Rotterdam | Admission: EUR 5,-

This edition of Blowup will examine the tension between documentary
methods and artistic expression, and address where notions of truth and
beauty fit in this mix. As a crossover point between art and journalism,
the documentary image allows us to question the veracity of world events
from multiple viewpoints, often offering multiple uncomfortable
realities instead of a single, easily-digestible worldview. Curator and
special "talk show host" Michelle Kasprzak will talk with Lino Hellings,
Alfredo Cramerotti and Gair Dunlop.
