*N.K. Berlin - Tuesday, September 13**th** 2011*
Doors 21.00 – Concert 22.00 sharp!
*GHÉDALIA TAZARTÈS//CHRIS CORSANO & DENNIS TYFUS//DRACULA LEWIS*
*Ghédalia Tazartès*
French cult artist Ghédalia Tazartès is an uncompromising character who
defies categorization. He recorded alone a dozen of albums, calling his way
of working “Impromuz” for lack of a better term. His public appearances
remain exceptional events. Ghédalia Tazartès’ music has always been a
mystery. It switches from musique concrète to – existing or invented –
ethnic music, from poetry to noise, or from loops and collages to sad and
extremely beautiful tunes in a second, but it constantly is in flux and
coherent.
For this event he will do an exclusive performance of the “HAXAN” SOUNDTRACK
(cinemix). Häxan is a documentary about the history of witchcraft, told in a
variety of styles, from illustrated slideshow to dramatized events of
alleged real-life events, right up to the early twentieth century (when the
film was made, in 1922). Benjamin Christensen’s legendary film uses a series
of dramatic vignettes to explore the scientific hypothesis that the witches
of the Middle Ages suffered the same hysteria as turn-of-the-century
psychiatric patients.
Tazartes’ shamanic voice and talent for incantation make for a unique and
frightening experience.

*Chris Corsano & Dennis Tyfus*
First spellbound by free improvised music in the mid '90s after witnessing
performances by TEST, William Parker, Cecil Taylor and others, Corsano began
a long-standing high-energy partnership with Paul Flaherty in 1998. A move
from western Massachusetts, USA to the UK in 2005 led Corsano to develop an
expanded solo percussion music of his own, incorporating sax reeds, violin
strings and bows, pot lids, adhesive tape and other household devices into
his drum kit. Moving back to the U.S. in 2009, he's returned to his own
projects, most notably a duo with Michael Flower, Rangda (with Sir Richard
Bishop and Ben Chasny) and his solo work, now revamped to include
synthesizers and contact mics in addition to his drum kit and home-made
acoustic instruments. He's also worked with, among others: Evan Parker &
John Edwards, Jim O'Rourke, Paul Dunmall, Nels Cline, Jessica Rylan, Jandek,
Sunburned Hand Of Man, MV&EE, Vampire Belt, Joe McPhee and Thurston Moore &
Wally Shoup.
At this event, Corsano pairs with another many-tendrilled talent in the form
of Belgian maverick Dennis Tyfus. The visual artist, free noise purveyor and
Ultra Eczema label boss Tyfus has his own unique approach to, well,
everything.

*Dracula Lewis*
Dark, lo-fi aggressive electronics with weird field recordings but also a
spacey melodic sound that came up from this maelström. Dracula Lewis is one
of the best hidden secrets from Europe. He has spent a long time traveling
all over the world and has also released records on No Fun Production (split
w/ Ducktails) and his own Hundebiss Records.
