Call to Artists - "CONVERGENCE/DIVERGENCE"

WEAD, the Women Environmental Artists Directory <http://weadartists.org/>,
is coordinating an exhibition on the topic of WATER at the Los Medanos
College Gallery in Pittsburg, CA from November 15 to December 20, 2012. The
exhibition will be curated by international environmental artist Suzon Fuks,
initiator and co-founder of "Waterwheel" <http://water-wheel.net/>.

WEAD cordially invites your participation in this important topical
exhibition "Convergence/Divergence".

As an all-volunteer organization they are not in a position to provide any
funds for participating artists, such as cost of delivery of artworks or
mailings, but the Los Medanos showcase will be an excellent venue with an
important focus. We're especially interested in seeing work from artists
who can contribute video or digital works. Of course sculpture,
two-dimensional and performance work is also welcome.

What makes Los Medanos College such a good venue for the discussion is its
location and focus on environmental stewardship. The following excerpt is
from the web page of the Environmental Sciences department:

"The California Delta is our ³back yard² the confluence
California¹s two major rivers, the Sacramento and San Joaquin, is very close
to our campus. The Delta presents serious ecological and hydrological crises
that call for attention, and LMC is the only institution of higher learning
permanently situated at the confluence of those two great rivers.
It is estimated that 70% of the heavy industry in the Bay Area is
located along the river corridor that forms the northern boundary of Contra
Costa County. This region¹s oil refineries, chemical plants, water and
wastewater treatment facilities, and power plants are screaming for more
locally-trained employees, including environmental scientists and
technicians. "

Los Medanos College is also the site of a unique 9 acre central pond that
supplies storm-water resource for the campus landscaping.

If you are interested in participating in this environmentally oriented art
exhibition, please contact WEAD Exhibitions Chair, Vickie Jo Sowell, at
