[spectre] Bacteria Battery No. 8 by RIXC artists in WRO 2013 Biennale

Hello on spectre,

RIXC artists Raitis Smits and Rasa Smite together with sound artist 
Voldemars Johansons are participating in this year's 15th International 
Media Art Biennale "WRO 2013" with their collaborative innovative 
artwork "Bacteria Battery Nr 8".

WRO Biennale is taking place from May 8 to 12, 2013 in Wroclaw, Poland 
where the "Bacteria Battery" installation will be showcased at the 
Biennale exhibition until June 16.

/"Bacteria Battery No 8" is an innovative art and science collaboration 
project by Rasa Smite, Raitis Smits together with sound artist and 
composer Voldemars Johansons and young biologists from University of 
Latvia. This experimental project on new generation "green energy" 
technologies sonifies the process of generating electricity from 
bacteria living in water. The installation consists of cells in a 
network creating a 'bacteria battery'. This process of generating 
'bacteria fuel' is interpreted in sound structures providing an 
aesthetic perspective on the mutual relations between nature and 
technology, biologic systems and electronic networks./
