Dimanche Rouge presents KATSURA KAN at Plateforme gallery on Tuesday
November 5th at 19:30

“BUTOH , Surrealism of the body”

Japanese Butoh master, Katsura Kan will present a series of videos followed
by a discussion at the Plateforme Gallery on Tuesday November 5th at 19:30.
The video presentation will include “Beckett Butoh Notation” and “The
Tibetan Book of the Dead” as well as some of his earlier works.

KATSURA Kan, a native of Kyoto, is a Master Butoh artist from among the
ranks of Japan's senior generation of Butoh dancers. He performed with the
seminal Butoh troupe, “Byakkosha” 1979-1981. He is a celebrated solo and
collaborative performer as well as a choreographer. For the past 30 years
Kan has worked with what he calls “minority dancers” in remote locations
throughout Europe, South East Asia and Africa. Kan is researching "Beckett
BUTOH Notation" in France, and “Oracle & Enigma” as a Dance Oratorio
project in San Francisco. Kan curated the Contemporary Dance Conference in
Beijing in September 2012.

Dimanche Rouge is a non-profit association dedicated to the promotion of
experimental and live art.
