In June there are several opportunities to visit V2_. We have two
‘MeetUps’, and an Open Lab afternoon. So if you consider yourself to
be part of the larger community of V2_, or just would like have a
drink and get an inside view of what we’re doing: you’re welcome. At
the end of the month V2_ hosts two events of the Piet Zwart Institute.


Community MeetUp
4 June 2015

Time to (re)connect with all old and new friends of V2_ to meet, chat,
drink and connect in an informal setting. On the 4th of June we are
back with another Community Meetup & Drink on the groundfloor of V2_.
Just like last time there will be an open mic available in case anyone
would like to present their work or address the community. At this
'community meetup' Noud Heerkens will present the results of his
research at V2_. Over the last few weeks he has been working together
with the V2_Lab to realize his interactive dance installation
(Re)presenting Dance. During the evening the first prototype will be
live for the V2_Community to try and offer feedback on. As usual our
Cocktail Designer is serving free, specially designed
Unstable_Cocktails as long as supplies last. (Re)Presenting Dance is
supported by CBK Rotterdam (Centre for Visual Arts Rotterdam).



Open_Lab

Artists and students that need (technical) support on their projects
can attend one of our Open_Lab sessions. Every other month, V2_Lab
organizes an afternoon where artists and students can present their
work and ask questions to the V2_Lab crew in an informal setting.
Anyone who fills in the application form can attend the Open_Lab. When
you apply, you are placed on a 'waiting list'. Each time the next
three people from the list are invited for a specific Open_Lab
session. Each participant will get 10 minutes to present their project
and introduce their question. After that, all participants can give
feedback and share their knowledge and ideas.



Bio+Art MeetUp II

On June 10th from 20:00 to 22:00, V2_ hosts the second Bio+Art
Community MeetUp, a new initiative to give the Dutch community of
artists, designers, makers, and researchers that are working on/with
biotechnologies a place to meet and discuss their work, their ideas
and recent developments. This time everyone is invited to bring an
object that plays an important role in his or her practice. Following
a “show and tell” principle everybody will receive the opportunity to
say a few words about the object and its relevance to his/her
practice. By doing so, we hope to gain insight into the individual
practices in our community and open the discussion on the role of
these objects and their meaning. Participation in these MeetUps is
free of charge and cocktails will be served on the house as long as
they last!


Tempted by Tomorrow (Nervous About Tonight)

Tempted by Tomorrow (Nervous About Tonight) is the official preview
party for Tempted By Tomorrow the Master Media Design and
Communication graduation exhibition of the Piet Zwart Institute. This
evening will be filled with performances, presentations and the
opportunity to view installations and discuss the projects that have
been produced. The evening is a chance to learn more about the PZI
MMDC students’ current work, have a drink, and decide on who should be
the winner of ‘Thesis – Karaoke’, the ultimate research based
pop-jukebox. Join us for an evening off media cabaret at V2!



An Encyclopedia of Media Objects
26–27 June 2015

What is an encyclopedia? What are media? What is an object? Students
of the Piet Zwart Institute Media Design Masters programme invite you
to look at these issues. Twelve installations and one choreography
present a taxonomy of disappearing, human and non-human, introvert and
collected media objects. With work by Lucas Battich, Manetta Berends,
Julie Boschat Thorez, Cihad Caner, Joana Chicau, Cristina Cochior,
Solange Frankort, Arantxa Gonlag,  Anne Lamb, Benjamin Li, Yuzhen
Tang, Ruben van de Ven & Thomas Walskaar.


Test_Lab: Graduation Edition 2015

On the 9th of July V2_ presents the annual graduation edition of
Test_Lab – a special evening showcasing a selection of installations,
demonstrations, performances, prototypes and experiments by a new
generation of artists and designers graduating this year from European
art academies. Featuring Frank Kolkman, Mathijs van Oosterhoudt,
Bastian Hoffmann, Jos Volkers, Teresa van Dongen, Dries Depoorter, and
Lídia Pereira.
