Hello,

Torque Editions present a playful new work using AI with the news archive
at The British Library
Sign up for the talk 11am GMT on 24th Sept
https://leedsdigitalfestival.org/events/ai-and-the-headline-archive/

This event is a launch for a new artwork that uses a kind of artificial
intelligence called recursive neural nets (RNN to synthesise
past-present-future headlines. At the event, we will talk about how
*multiplicities* of human and machine intelligences have much more
immediate positive potential than 'the singularity'. The artwork allows you
to combine your own headline predictions with the historical archives at
the British Library, to produce a weird new language plasma future
newspaper cover. It's a collaboration between Nathan Jones, Tom Schofield
and Sam Skinner. torquetorque.net

The project is called "Crash Blossoms", after instances where headlinese
produces a weird semantic ambiguity, like ""McDonald's fries the holy grail
for potato farmers"

best,

Nathan Jones
