Multiplicidad significa que las políticas culturales son siempre la política y la cultura de l*s much*s. No una cultura elitista para un*s poc*s, no una política cultural turística para visitantes, no una cultura tradicional homogeneizada para la reacción. Sino una multitud de producciones culturales procedentes de una multitud de espacios autogestionados, centros socioculturales, grupos de teatro libres, pequeños espacios de concierto, redes tecnopolíticas, radios libres, librerías críticas, editoriales y publicaciones desafiantes...

Multiplicidad, de le pli, el pliegue, significa que l*s productor*s culturales no son solo una multitud, sino múltiples pliegues. Por tanto, hay otra dimensión, y cada singularidad tiene su propio pliegue, su propia envoltura, su propio entorno. De acuerdo con estas especificidades, la política y la administración cultural deben proporcionar apoyo y financiación específica para los espacios, el equipamiento y la mano de obra en el ámbito cultural.

Multiplicidad significa que también la ciudad, the city, se compone de multiplicidades; nunca una, nunca unificada, sino un montón de territorios subsistenciales. Las multiplicidades de la ciudad agrietan la homogeneización de la ciudad como marca, siempre reductora y excluyente, para abrirse a lo que verdaderamente marca a una ciudad: la multiplicidad de singularidades que le dan vida.

Multiplicity means that cultural politics is always about politics and culture of the many. Not an elitist high culture for the few, not a touristic cultural politics for the tourists, not a homogenized traditional culture for the right wing. But a multitude of cultural production coming from a multitude of off-spaces, socio-cultural centres, free theatre groups, small concert spaces, techno-political networks, free radios, critical bookstores, disobedient publishing platforms…

Multiplicity, from le pli, the fold, means that the cultural producers are not only a multitude: they are manifold. So there is another dimension, and each singularity has its own folding, its own envelope, its own surround. In line with these specificities, cultural politics and administration must provide specific support and funding for spaces, equipment, labour in the cultural field.

Multiplicity also means that the city consists of multiplicities. Never one, never unified, always many subsistential territories. The multiplicities of the city rupture the homogenization of the city as a brand, which is always reductive and excluding, in order to open up what truly marks a city: the multiplicity of singularities that give life to it.
