Anne Barlow, the appointed curator of BUCHAREST BIENNALE 5, will announce the list of participants, the exhibition's venues and new details about the concept of BUCHAREST BIENNALE 5 – Bucharest International Biennial for Contemporary Art. <br />
<br />
The press conference will be joined by Razvan Ion and Eugen Radescu, the co-directors of BUCHAREST BIENNALE, Andrei Craciun and Ramona Macarie, Executive Directors. <br />
<br />
Location: PAVILION - center for contemporary art & culture <br />
(Sos. Nicolae Titulescu nr. 1, Piata Victoriei, Bucharest). <br />

<strong>SAVE THE DATE: 24 MAY 2012 - OPENING DAY</strong><br />
<br />
The BUCHAREST BIENNALE 5, produced by PAVILION - journal for politics and culture, will take place between May 25 - July 22, 2012, under the curatorship of Anne Barlow (UK/USA).<br />
The official opening is scheduled for Thursday, May 24. <br />
There will be many events, such as lectures, performances and discussions during the opening weekend, between May 24 and May 26.<br />
<br />
<strong>CONCEPT</strong><br />
Within the current context of the shifting nature of politics, economics, and culture - conditions that are increasingly referred to as "precarious" times - artists often have to negotiate risky positions, contested territories, or situations in which cultural activity interacts with, or provides a counterpoint to, conditions of flux. Bucharest Biennale 5 profiles the work of artists whose agency lies less in overt statements, but rather in investigative, indirect, or informal strategies that possess their own kind of power.<br />

<em>Anne Barlow (born in Glasgow, Scotland), the appointed Curator of BB5, is Executive Director of Art in General, New York. She acted as Curator of the Scottish Arts Council Collection of contemporary art (1989-1994) and Curator of Contemporary Art and Design at Glasgow Museums (1994-1999). Also from 1999-2006, she was Curator of Education and Media Programs at the New Museum, New York.<br />

Anne Barlow, curatorul desemnat al BUCHAREST BIENNALE 5, va anunta in cadrul unei conferinte de presa, lista artistilor participanti, locatiile expozitiilor si noi detalii cu privire la conceptul BUCHAREST BIENNALE 5 – Bienala Internationala Pentru Arta Contemporana Bucuresti.<br />

Deschiderea oficiala este programata pentru joi, 24 Mai, 2012. In cadrul BB5 vor avea loc numeroase evenimente precum prelegeri, performances, si dezbateri.<br />
<br />
<strong>CONCEPT</strong><br />
In contextul actual al naturii schimbatoare a economiei, societatii si culturii—situatii care sunt adesea numite “vremuri precare” — artistii trebuie sa isi negocieze adesea pozitii riscante, teritorii contestate, ori situatii in care activitatea culturala interactioneaza sau ofera un contrapunct la conditii de flux. in cadrul acestui context, Bucharest Biennale 5 reliefeaza creatia unor artisti al caror portofoliu nu consta neaparat in situatii evidente, ci mai degraba in strategii investigative, indirecte sau informale, care poseda propria lor forma de putere.<br />

<strong>CURATOR</strong><br />
<em>Anne Barlow (s-a născut în Glasgow, Scoția), este curatorul desemnat pentru BB5 și Director Executiv al Art in General, New York.A activat in calitate de curator al Scottish Arts Council Collection of contemporary art (1989-1994) si al Contemporary Art and Design din cadrul Glasgow Museums (1994-1999). De asemenea din 1999 pana in 2006 a fost curator pentru Education and Media Programs in cadrul New Museum, New York.<br />
